WinCo Robbery Suspects Arrested After Fight with Loss Prevention

Eugene, Ore. – On September 13 at 5:46 p.m., Eugene Police units were dispatched for the report of two people fighting with three loss prevention officers at WinCo, 4275 Barger.



The two were later identified as Julia Rosemarie Hungerford, age 30, of Portland, and Serif Douglas Norton Paradigm, age 34, of Portland. Hungerford was reported to be struggling with loss prevention and Paradigm was reported to had become involved. He knocked over a loss prevention officer, stabbed him with a pen, and then fled the scene in a sedan. Hungerford was successfully detained.



The EPD K9 sergeant observed Paradigm’s vehicle traveling westbound on Pattison from a distance and then Paradigm crashed the car and fled on foot (the sergeant’s lights and siren were not activate). At 1270 Taney, three officers took Paradigm into custody without incident.

Paradigm was lodged at Lane County Jail on charges of Robbery in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Unlawful Use of a weapon, Menacing, Harassment, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.
